About us
A Gesture is a holistic educational training program that offers work experience and life skills for unemployed individuals to gain proficiency in warehousing and food logistics. This innovative curriculum was founded in 2010 and aims to support 300 trainees in 2012.
In a supportive and hands-on learning environment participants are in a program that aims to create fundamental building blocks that spark personal growth to become job-ready.
Lam has a passion for helping people get back into work. Having worked for much of the last 7 years in a Job Services Agency, he saw people in need, and new that a combination of education with real-world work experience would provide the best outcome for people wanting to get back to work. His commitment to build a warehouse, and help design a dynamic, community-based programme for supporting others with the work of many pairs of hands has resulted in hundreds of new jobs being accepted by graduates of the A Gesture programmes.
Lam also has a Vietnamese heritage with family members who have worked in import, export and warehousing for the last 30 years.
Kevin Hall has been championing Vocational Education in Australia for the last 12 years. In his local community he saw a need for food to be rescued and given to those in need, and to stop some of the waste of perfectly edible food. Applying his skills of designing and implementing training and education programmes, and gathering the support of the community, training organisations and the resources to make it happen, he partnered with Lam to create the first A Gesture warehousing programme to provide job opportunities for individuals, while managing a crucial need of getting fresh food to families in need.
Kevin has a background in Education, as well as Retail and Hospitality with Sainsbury’s supermarkets in the UK and Pepsi Worldwide throughout Western and Eastern Europe.
