Education & Training

At A Gesture, we provide a dedicated team training experience in an active working warehouse through traineeships, SBATs (School Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships), and job-seeker training programs. In 2012, 300 students participated in A Gesture’s training program. That means 300 lives changed for the better!

Practical warehouse training

Sunshine followed by Dandenong, have Victoria’s highest unemployment rates of 12% &11.9% this year. At A Gesture, we’re working to change that through our warehouse training programme.

Our practical approach provides work ready skills, in combination with the required knowledge and nationally accredited certificates.

We focus on the following training programmes in our multi-faceted approach to education, in line with personalised training assessments of students currently enrolled:

    • Certificate III Warehousing
    • Certificate I, II, III General Education for Adults
    • English as a Second Language (ESL)
    • Certificate I in Transition Education
    • Certified Forklift Licencing

Our individual approach to education and learning involves a specific need to focus on and understand the individual and build aflexible delivery of skills and knowledge, using a variety of methods.

Teaching disability, long-term unemployed or culturally sensitive programmes involves a deep understanding of literacy and numeracy and the level of confidence and self esteem needed to grow from within the individual.

To support job outcomes our flexible approach allows students to choose additional skills achieved along the way during their time at A Gesture, including:

  • Food Safety Supervisor
  • Forklift Driving
  • Courier Delivery
  • Cleaning and Chemical Usage
  • OH&S Risk Assessment
  • Goal Setting
  • Personality Type analysis
  • Public Speaking
